Book 8: Music is the Victim

Newt and Ron nodded, blinking as she disapeared.
Ron took a deep, uneasy breath.But before he could speak Nikki arrived back.
"Well...Ok... Who's driving first?"
Newt asked, not asking because he wanted to. Newt was too young to get his licence. When he's eighteen he can. Well... Ron had driven a car when he was a lot younger. But Newt thought he would crash it.
Ron gotn out his wand and muttered some incantation under his breath.
A hat suddenly floated down from midair and landed in his hand.
It was a stylish beanie.



He put it on and flattened his hair so he looked pretty cool and he shoved his hands in his blue jean's pockets.
Newt looked at the wand as Ron put it in his back pocket again.
"Hey... May I try using it?"
He cautiously asked.
Ron looked up, shrugging.
"Sure. Why not?"
He said, pulling it out and handing it to Newt.
Newt eagerly took the wand, weighing it in his hand.It was pretty heavy, medium length.. Unicorn hair... Willow....
Newt raised it up in the air.
"Sweet."
He said.
"Not as sweet as using incantations without the wand."
Newt nodded.
"Ok, here you go."
But as he handed it back to Ron, a red beam shot out and seemed to hit Ron in the face.
It sounded out with a zap.
"Ron! Are you ok??!!"
Newt asked, kneeling beside the Ron who sat on the floor.
"Completely fine.."
He said in a thick voice.
Ron put a hand to his nose, taking it away to reveal blood.
"What the heck did you do?!!!"
Ron yelled.
"I DUNNO!"
Newt cried out.
Ron picked up his wand, pointing it to his nose.
"Episkey."
He said, whiping the blood.
"That'll fix things."
Ron got up, dusting himself off and adjusting toe beanie before getting back to the question.
"Can I drive?"
He asked.

Nikki's head pounded, but she stood still. "Well, since the sun's going to come out very soon, then I suggest you drive."
Nikki looked up at the hat that landed on Ron's head like it was just a normal thing, then scrunched her eyebrows at Newt.
Suddenly, Nikki's eyes were a dark gold again, vampire fangs on her teeth. Her heart skipped beats, cold sweat forming on her forehead and she breathed fastl, short breaths. She screamed and looked away, appearing at the other end of the alley. She shook, holding her breath for long periods of times.
Ron's scent burned her. His blood giving her a huge headache of want for it. The blood smelled sweet, pure, and thick. Golden tears fell down her cheaks in horror, it was hard for her to resist.
Nikki crouched down and leaned on the stone wall , looking out onto the street, clinging to herself as she shivered nonstop. If someone didn't look twice, they'd think she was trying to quit drugs.

Ron nodded and took the keys off her.
He jumped back as she acted strange.
Newt's eyes widened and he ran to her, supporting her slightly.
"Ron. Get in the car."
He said in a struggled voice, trying to help her get up.
Ron blinked.
"But--"
"Ron just get in the car!"
He said sternly.
Ron narrowed his eyes, realising why she was acting wierdly.
He unlocked the car and jumped into the driver's seat, pushing the keys into the ignition bit.
he turned them and the engine started.
He stuck his head out the window.
"Guys. Come on."
He looked at Nikki in a worried way, hoping she would be alright and would'nt attack him on the way to Hermione's house in Newcastle.
Newt grunted.
"Come on Nikki. We have to go. You can hold off the scent can't you?"
He asked softly, his arm around one of her arms, tugging at it.

Nikki got up, gasping air, nodding. "Yeah, it just stings." She squinted her eyes shut, then widened her eyes at the sun. "Ugh, this is gonna burn if I don't get in there." She sped into the van and into the backseat, setting Newt in the passenger first. She got out a thick blanket and a pillow and put her head on it, covering herself with the blanket.
Before she did that, she handed the two a light blanket and pillow, and Ron a cup of coffee. "I'll see you two when the sun's down." She said tiredly, then smiled warmly at Ron, "The only reason I ran from you was so I couldn't. Don't worry, I wouldn't try to drink blood. Which is why I can't stay up during the day . . ." She handed the paper with the cordanents and a map, bid them a good day, then fell asleep underneath the blanket, barely making any movement in the trunk of the van.

Ron had drunk the coffee and Newt was belting himself in.
"This is oddly wierd."
Ron shrugged.
"Reminds me of the time dad had to sneak a killer through a toll booth. Sirius Black... Hehehehe."
He smirked and put his hands on the wheel, pushing the pedal down.
"Eh..ROn. Dont'cha wanna read the map?"
newt asked, already panicking.
"Nah. I just follow my instincts."
Newt gulped.
"My instincts are never wrong."

Several hours later.

"Eh Ron.. We're lost.."
Newt said.
Ron was shivering, on a fifth cup of coffee.
"We're completely FINE!"
He hissed, driving on, shaking something terrible.
Newt checked Nikki.
"Are you ok?"
He asked.

Nikki stirred, then hissed a bit. "Oh," She blinked tiredly, "Uh . . . Yeah." She looked up, it was getting dark. "I'll drive if Ron wants to stop now." She stretched under the blanket.

Newt looked at ROn.
"I'm COMPLETELY FINE."
He said firmly.
Newt looked back at Nikki and shrugged.
"We'll. Trust RON'S INSTINCTS."
He yelled.
Newt sighed.
"We'll never get there."
Ron suddenly stopped the car.
"Don't make me put a fist to your pretty boy face."
He was pretty stressed from the coffee.
"What'cha gonna do? Put your flippable hair in my eyes? Oooooh so scared!"
Ron jumped out of his seat, got out of the car in the middle of the road, pulled Newt out of his side and punched him around the face.
"owww! HEY! It was a joke!"
ROn narrowed his eyes.
"No one jokes about my hair."
He said, getting back in his side, starting the car up again.
NEwt jumped in, hand to his scarlet cheek.
"Gaaah,"
He moaned.

Nikki blinked. Then her eyes widened, "You're gonna wreck the car!" She leapt foreward and onto the driver's side. She turned the car and pulled it over on the curb and got out an ice pack.
"Very mature, Ron." She said a bit annoyed and handed the ice pack to Newt. "It may form into a black eye . . ." She bit the corner of her cheak, dark emerald eyes almost glowing in the dark.

Ron rolled his eyes, folding his arms across his chest.
"I have a lot of anger. Since being dead for several years is not letting my anger out."
He huffed and went and sat in the back with Newt, who held an icepack to his eye.
"I could break your nose."
He said.
"Oh whatever. Those fists could never be in a fight. They're too soft."
Newt hissed and ignored him. For once.
"Nikki you can drive. I'm tired."
Ron said, yawning.

Nikki turned the car back on and was about to pull away when she swung around and looked at the two. "Ron, everyone's dead for a while." She blinked, "Stop it and get along."
She nodded, "That was my plan in the first place. Get some sleep. I'll wake you up when it's daybreak."
Nikki turned back around and continued driving down the highway, eyeing the paper and map every once in a while.

Newt stayed awake, eyeing Ron who was slowly sleeping with his head down and arms folded.
Newt sighed,
"Another day of this... Oh well."
He sniffed and yawned, clutching the icepack.
"Ron can overreact sometimes."
He said to himself, sighing again in an exasperated way.

Nikki sighed, keeping her eyes on the road, "Well, you try being dead for 7 years." She smiled, "It sucks." She eyed Newt for a second on the review mirror. "You know, I packed a few movies and headphones. You can watch one or listen to music on the TV if you want." She turned into a highway.

Newt nodded.
"Yeah. I have my I-pod."
He put the icepack down on the seat, but suddenly had a really good idea.
With a sly smirk on his face, he picked it up again, slowly leaning over to Ron.
He managed to pull the front of Ron's jumper forward and stuff it down.
He let go to Ron swearing and making a racket.
"WHAT THE FUCK?????!!!!!!!"
He yelled, pulling it out.
He eyed Newt.
"I'll kill you!"
He said, throwing it at Newt's head.
Newt banged against the window and swore.
"Hey! It was a joke!"
Ron looked around.
"Who's laughing?"
He asked.
"Me."
Newt cheekily said.

Nikki growled, "Stop!" she yelled. She pulled the car over and turned around, "Act your age, not your shoe size." She hissed. "I don't want to smell blood and end up with you two dead."
She blinked, "Alright. I want one of you in the passenger seat, and the other in the back seat. Now." Her dark emerald eyes were full of anger.

Ron and Newt acted like children, afraid of their mother.
Ron shakily volenteered to sit in the back back seats.
He lowered his eyes.
"My shoe size is eleven so that is quite mature. His is a size 1!"
Ron hissed.
Newt overheard and turned around.
"At least I'm not ginger."
Ron rolled his eyes.
"At least I'm not gay."
All the while they got louder and louder, seeming to ignore Nikki's threats.

Nikki's eyes glowed gold, "HEY!" She growled, "Newt. Up. Now."
She reached back and grabbed Newt by the collar, and yanked him to the passengar seat. "Unless you want me going goddess on your asses, I suggest you get along or shut up!" She sighed angerly.

Newt whimpered.
"Sorry........"
He said.
"But that guy back there was provoking me."
He said, narrowing his eyes, folding his arms across his chest.
Ron sighed and took his beanie off, putting it in his lap.
He didn't say anything. He was going to stop talking..Or try to.
Newt bit at his knuckles, really wanting to punch him back... He would.. Just when Nikki wouldn't look.
"How long have we got?"
He asked.

Nikki continued driving, keeping an eye on the two with the review mirror. "By the look of it, we may get there on time by tonight." She eyed them annoyingly, "That is, if we don't have any more interruptions." She continued with her eyes on the road.

Ron and Newt rolled their eyes at the same time.
"From Newt."
Ron coughed slightly.
"From Ron."
Newt coughed.
"Newt."
"Ron.
"Newt."
"Ron."
"Newt."
"RON!"
Ron and yelled began to yell.
Newt pulled on his innocent crying face.
"Ron's provoking me again!"
He said in a whiney voice.
Ron rolled his eyes.
"Oh shutup."

Nikki gripped tightly to the weel. "Ron. Why don't you go back to sleep before you fall asleep on the wheel if it takes longer." She eyed the two. "Oh yeah, I have cookies in the back somewhere if you want some." she laughed a bit, "I forgot a little about them."

Ron sighed.
He clsoed his eyes.
"Fine.."
He muttered.
But before he fell asleep he said.
"Bastard."
Under his rbeath.
Newt turned back>
"WELL AT LEAST I DIDN'T HAVE A MURDERUR AS A RAT!"
(THis is not true for Ron.)
Ron's eyes were wide open, flames could've been seen.
"No one....makes...Fun...Of...SCABBERS!"
He unbuckled the belt and lunged obver the row of seats at Newt.

Nikki immediately pulled teh call over and was up out of her seat, haunched over. She stepped in the middle of the two, eyes glowing a dark emerald green in anger, "You two stop it! We're never going to make it this way!"

Ron slammed against the side.
"Agh!"
He said, hand on head, as if he had been hit in the stomach.
Newt took his chance and got into Ron's lap, rubbing his knuckles into Ron's hair, giving his a noogie.
"GEDDOFF!"
Ron yelled hoarsely, red in the face from the pain.

Nikki growled loudly and threw Ron over so he landed on her blanket and pillow in the trunk, then buckled Newt up tightly. She walked to the back and to Ron, "Ron. Sit and stay, go to sleep." She wipped around back to Newt, "Same with you." Her eyes glowed, "I hear one word from any of you and your both are going to end up uncontious. Don't think I won't." She sighed angerly.

"Whatever."
Ron muttered, closing his eyes, thinking deep thoughts while he drifted off to sleep, soon breathing hard.

Newt struggled.
"Trying to cut off my circulation or something?!!"
He asked, angry at Ron for being such an idiotic immature baby.
Newt sighed heavily and looked out the window.
"If Ron hadn't ounched me we wouldn't be in this mess."
He pressed on.
